Buttermilk or Chess Pie

Buttermilk Pie

This pie is a family favorite. My grandmother would make it for us every Thanksgiving. It is similar to a Chess or Custard Pie. It's delicious!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 9-inch pie crust, unbaked
  • 3 lrg eggs
  • 1-1/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp lemon zest
  • 1 pinch salt

Instructions
 

  • Mix together eggs, granulated sugar, flour, butter, buttermilk, vanilla, lemon juice, lemon zest and salt until well combined.
  • Pour into pie crust and bake at 350° for 45-50 minutes until set and golden brown.
  • Remove from oven and allow to cool before slicing. Store in the refrigerator.
