Buttermilk Pie is one of the simplest, most comforting Southern desserts — a sweet, silky custard baked inside a flaky crust. Its flavor is subtly tangy, beautifully sweet, and wonderfully old-fashioned. With only a handful of pantry ingredients, it delivers the kind of homemade goodness that feels warm, nostalgic, and welcoming.
This pie needs no toppings or embellishments — its simplicity is what makes it shine. Serve it warm or chilled, dusted with powdered sugar or plain. Whether you’re hosting guests or craving a classic dessert, Buttermilk Pie is a timeless favorite.
